Sally is
a founder member of the group Words and Music which creates
entertainments with readings on particular themes.
Many distinguished actors have worked with the group including
Prunella Scales, Timothy West, Samuel West, Edward de Souza,
John Julius Norwich, Edward Petherbridge, Benjamin Whitrow,
Clive Merrison, Alexander McCall Smith and Eleanor Bron. A
recent collaboration with Archbishop Rowan Williams has led to
the creation of a new show celebrating George Herbert, God
Almighty Planted a Garden.
Sally and Dr Williams have made several appearances together in
the Christmas show and more are planned.
The group has toured worldwide for the British Council and
regularly performs in theatres around Britain. Their Christmas
Show, A Thousand Years of Christmas is popular up and
down the country from Pitlochry to Barnstaple and has been seen
in the Malvern Theatre, Theatre Royal, Bath, and Stephen Joseph
Theatre, Scarborough, as well as Far Eastern venues: the
Philippines, Borneo and Hong Kong.
The group creates entertainments to order: for example they
created a show based on Lord Byron for the National Portrait
Gallery and they performed a new show, Cambridge Eccentrics commissioned
by the Cambridge University Alumnus Weekend as well as the
Cambridge Festival, to acclaim.
